“Design is thinking made visual.” - Saul Bass

It’s that time of the year. Each year I come across a range of queries from aspiring designers. I thoroughly enjoy these conversations where they share their aspirations and are curious about possibilities in the spectrum of design. More so in most cases with first generation designers struggling to find the right pathway towards becoming a designer. In the past two decades the lens towards 'Design Learning' has shifted pragmatically. So if you are considering a role in design, here is a snippet from my end about things you need to know about the types of designers.

Before all else, design is intensely collaborative in nature. More designers are drawn towards building diverse teams to come up with ingenious solutions. As difficult as it may seem to choose the right stream. Interestingly, design is not entirely limited by disciplines - best part about being a designer. No matter where you begin it’s all about the process and building on your strengths. Here’s to begin with,

Did you know there are different types of designers?

  • Multi-Disciplinary Designers: Designer with in depth knowledge in one or more design streams

  • Disciplinary Designers: Designer exceeding in a specific design stream

  • Trans-Disciplinary Designers: Designers aspiring towards leadership roles with the skill set of design thinking

That being said, sky's the limit! If you know which one you are, do take our quiz
